Bio

On July 1, 2018, Gary Bennett began his term as Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education. Bennett is a Duke professor of psychology & neuroscience, global health and medicine, who founded the global health major. His research focuses on the use of digital tools to address obesity, especially among underserved populations. A New Jersey native and son of public school educators, Bennett earned a BA from Morehouse College. He obtained his doctorate at Duke (where he met his wife, attorney Leah Moore, who holds two Duke degrees) and became a faculty member at Harvard before returning to Duke in 2009. The couple has two daughters.
